Ukraine: Yanukovych Stated That His Removal Was «illegal»

Ousted President Viktor Yanukovych said Tuesday that his departure from the government of Ukraine, which occurred on 23 February was «illegal.»

He also said that he expects to return to power to restore order in the country, which is experiencing a political crisis with Russia after his departure from government.

He added during a press conference, that he continues to be the current head of the Ukrainian military.

After the dismissal of Yanukovych, thousands of inhabitants of the Crimea region in the southeast of the country, noted their desire to belong to the Russian Federation and called for a referendum to be called for next Sunday.

This situation has caused diplomatic tension between the countries of the European Union and the United States against the government of Russia and President Vladimir Putin.
