Providence, RI- This morning at approximately 11:26 hours Providence Police were
dispatched to the Textron Building located 40 Westminster Street for a report of
protesters who had locked themselves to the front door. Upon arrival police observed
two protesters locked to the front doors with bicycle locks and a third protester
sitting inside the opening to the revolving door. There were also three additional
protesters on the side walk in front of the building holding a large red sign.
Police asked the protesters locked to the door if they had the keys to the bicycle
locks and they stated they did not. Both the protesters locked to the door and the
protester sitting inside the revolving door were asked by police to move to the
sidewalk, which they refused. Fire Department personnel were called to the scene to
remove the door handles in order to remove the subjects. The three subjects who
refused police orders to move are identified as Jerry Lee Stewart III, age 28 of
Bluemont, VA; Pia Ward, age 50 of Providence; and Mark Baumer, age 32 of Providence.
All three subjects were transported to Providence Police headquarters and charged
with Vandalism-Obstruction of Lawful Pursuits and held for 6th District Court.
