Increasing Latino Support for Gubernatorial Candidate Gina Raimondo

At least five elected Latino officials are supporting Gina Raimondo in her gubernatorial campaign.  Among these officials are Providence City Council members Sabina Matos, Luis Aponte, and Davian Sanchez and state Representatives Grace Diaz and Anastasia Williams. The Latino leaders joined together with Gina Raimondo on Tuesday to launch Latinos con Gina at a kickoff party. Raimondo's only Democratic primary opponent so far is Providence Mayor Angel Taveras, the first Latino mayor of the city.

Convicted Sex Offender Sentenced For Killing A Woman

Rhode Island - Douglas White 34-year-Providence, was sentenced to 60 years with 35 in prison for the second degree murder of Donna Oliver, 54 years also of Providence, leaving her body in a closet ,  fleeing the house, and taking a TV in April 2012 . Oliver's son found the body, three weeks later, at their home on Grape Street. ACI Prisoner Accused Of Assaulting Guard

Rhode Island - A prisoner at the State Prison of Cranston is facing multiple charges including assault for allegedly assaulting a correctional officer, on his first day of work on Sunday. Anthony Tavares faced trial in 2001 accused of stabbing to death his social worker. Tavares was held at the Eleanor Slater Hospital after he was found not guilty of murder by reason of insanity. Chafee Presents His Final State of State Speech As Governor of Rhode Island

Rhode Island - Rhode Island Gov. Lincoln Chafee presents his proposed budget and final speech on the state of the state. The Democratic Chafee offers his speech tonight to lawmakers and will present his priorities and recommendations for the fiscal year beginning July 1. Fung Discusses Fatal Accident As A Teenager

Rhode Island - One of the leading candidates for governor of Rhode Island announced that he was responsible for a fatal accident 25 years ago. Siblings Die trapped In Trunk At Home

  Massachusetts - Authorities say a boy and his sister, Lexi and Sean Monroe,  both under 10 years old apparently died after being trapped in a trunk at their home in Franklin, Massachusetts. The police came to the residence at around 8 pm on Sunday after the family discovered the young children who were taken to area hospitals where they could not be saved. Waiver for the NECAP

Rhode Island - Some Rhode Island students who have secured admission to 2 or 4 year universities or colleges need not be subjected to the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) to ensure they receive their high school diplomas . This was announced by a Rhode Island Education Department spokesperson, adding that it has provided information and guidance to school superintendents last January 3 who may now issue waivers for NECAP tests starting with students graduating this year.
