RI State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force Arrests a Cranston Man for Possession of 1,264 Grams Cocaine and 175 Grams Crack Cocaine

Colonel Ann C. Assumpico, Superintendent, of the Rhode Island State Police and Director of Public Safety, announces that on Friday, March 24, 2017, members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force arrested a Cranston man for possessing large quantities of cocaine and crack cocaine with the intent to deliver.

On March 24, 20917, members of the HIDTA Task Force executed a court-authorized search warrant at 116 Pleasant Street, Cranston, Rhode Island. As a result, members of the HIDTA Task Force seized the following items:
• Approximately 1,264 grams Cocaine;
• Approximately 175 grams Crack Cocaine
• $2,130.00 Dollars in United States Currency; and
• Digital Scales and packaging material associated with the distribution of narcotics.
Estimated street value of the seized narcotics is between $65,000 and $70,000 dollars.
Jernul Jones, age 27, of 116 Pleasant Street, Cranston, Rhode Island was arrested and charged with:

o Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Crack Cocaine)
o Possession with Intent to Deliver Schedule II (Crack Cocaine)
o Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance 1oz-1 kilogram (Crack Cocaine)
o Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Cocaine)
o Possession with Intent to Deliver Schedule II (Cocaine)
o Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance over 1 kilogram (Cocaine)
o Resisting Legal or Illegal Arrest

Jernul Jones was processed at State Police Headquarters and subsequently arraigned at Third Division District Court where he was held without bail.

The HIDTA Task Force is managed by the Rhode Island State Police and comprised of members from Pawtucket Police, Johnston Police, West Warwick Police, Lincoln Police, Middletown Police, Adult Correctional Institution (ACI), United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement-Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
