Rhode Island State Police to Promote 32 Sworn Members

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent, of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety, announces that there will be a Promotion and Awards Ceremony on:

Monday, March 24, 2014 7:00 p.m. Rhode Island College Sapinsley Hall, Nazarian Center for Performing Arts Providence, Rhode Island

Thirty-two members of the Rhode Island State Police, who have been promoted since the last ceremony in April 2013, are being presented their Certificates of Promotion by The Honorable Lincoln D. Chafee, Governor of the State of Rhode Island, and Colonel O’Donnell.

Twenty-three members of the Tactical Team, as well as fifteen members of the Canine Unit are being recognized for their outstanding law enforcement work.

Additionally, one trooper and two citizens are being recognized with the Lifesaver Award for their heroic efforts in saving a suicidal subject from jumping off the Newport Pell Bridge in April 2013.

The ceremony will last no longer than one hour and will be attended by federal, state, and local dignitaries, members of law enforcement, and troopers’ family and friends.
