 Magnitude 7.5 Earthquake Shakes Mexico

An earthquake of magnitude 7.5 on the Richter scale has shaken this Friday the surroundings of the city of Tecpan de Galeana, located in the State of Guerrero, in southwestern Mexico, near cities like Acapulco.

According to the National Seismological Service of Mexico, the earthquake struck at 9.27 am, local tim, about 31 kilometers Northwest of Tecpan de Galeana and 10 kilometers in depth.

The tremor was felt in Mexico City, as well as in the States of Colima, Jalisco, Veracruz and Michoacan, according to the Mexican daily ‘El Universal’. In the Mexican capital have you noticed with special force.

«It is shaking», has written the head of Government, Miguel Ángel Mancera, official of the social network Twitter account. Mancera has activated the Anti-Earthquake Protocol, which has led to some buildings being evacuated and public transport.

Public security and civil protection officials have taken charge of the operation. At the moment, there is no major damage. The tremor has only knocked down a tree that had fallen on a car parked in the Independencia suburb in Mexico city.
