Langevin Statement on President Trump’s Tax Proposal

WASHINGTON, D.C.— Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) today released the following statement on President Trump’s tax proposal:

“President Trump’s tax proposal is vague, but the details that were made available demonstrate that this Administration is prioritizing tax breaks for wealthy Americans and large corporations while overlooking the middle class. Furthermore, the outline has no information about how the President plans to pay for these tax cuts. Without a massive change in revenue or spending, our deficit would skyrocket.

“Across the board, this President has put his friends in big business first while ignoring the everyday Americans demanding good jobs, financial markets that can be trusted, and reliable highways and infrastructure that serve their towns and neighborhoods. I urge the President to consider the impacts of his policies on Americans struggling to get by, not just the opinions of those in corporate boardrooms.”
