Providence – Local Dunkin’ Donuts franchise owners and their crew members are teaming up with the Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance (MFHA) to put on an interactive career exploration program for local high school students in Rhode Island.
The event Friday at Rhode Island College, is part of MFHA’s Showcase of the Stars™ program – a nationwide event series targeted toward urban youth and committed to highlighting the professional opportunities available in the foodservice industry. The program presents guest panelists, the “stars” of the event, who share stories of how they built their careers and offer students firsthand advice on how to succeed in a professional setting.
250 students from five Rhode Island high schools attend the event. Participating students have the opportunity to learn about every aspect of Dunkin’ Donuts’ business, as the panelists participating in the event are each involved in different aspects of the Dunkin’ Donuts’ franchised system – spanning from a local franchise owner to a franchisee’s store manager to a franchised network trainer.
MFHA launched the Showcase program 15 years ago. Since then, the program has had a positive impact on the careers of close to 20,000 students.
