Cranston Arcadia Street Shooting

On March 23, 2016 at approximately 10:43 pm, the Cranston Police Department received two calls from residents reporting that they heard what they believed were gun shots fired in the area of Arcadia Avenue. Officers responded to the neighborhood to investigate.

At 10:55 pm, the Providence Police Department notified this department of a walk-in patient at Rhode Island Hospital being treated for gunshot wounds. The 23 year old victim had a wound to both his head and right arm. The injuries were not reported to be life threatening.

Based upon initial information received at the hospital, officers responded to an address on Niantic Avenue, but did not locate any evidence of a shooting. Based upon subsequent information, officers located physical evidence of the shooting in the area of 80 Arcadia Avenue.

The victim was treated and released from the hospital. A preliminary investigation reveals that this shooting was not a random act.
