City of Providence Conducts Evacuation Drill to Increase Culture of Preparedness

PROVIDENCE – On Tuesday, September 27th at 9:15 a.m. members of the Providence
Public Safety Department – Providence Emergency Management Agency, the Providence
Police Department, the Providence Fire Department and the Communications Department
will conduct an evacuation drill of City Hall.

The primary goal of the drill will be to safely evacuate City Hall in a timely
manner and train and familiarize new employees with evacuation procedures. The
evacuation drill will validate and test the City Hall Emergency Response Guide and
employee knowledge of evacuation procedures.

The drill will take place at 9:15 a.m. and should last for about 15 minutes. City
Hall employees will evacuate their offices and travel by foot to a rally point in
Burnside Park, in the heart of downtown Providence and across the street from
Providence’s transit hub, Kennedy Plaza.
