The Rhode Island State Police are in the initial stages of planning the 2016
Citizens Trooper Academy which will begin October 4th, 2016 and conclude November
15th, 2016 (six consecutive Tuesday evenings.) The times are 6:00 PM – 8:30/9:00
PM.

We will be inviting government leaders, members of the media, community leaders, and
Rhode Island residents to participate in this program. The Academy will showcase
the mission and operations of the Rhode Island State Police, such as traffic stops,
firearms training, police-community relations, investigative techniques, and much
more. Some of the presenters will include members of the Rhode Island State Police
Training Academy Staff, Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Attorney General Peter F.
Kilmartin, and DPS Legal Counsel. The program, is part of the «New Beginnings
Community Outreach Program,» which began in May 2011, will also provide our
constituents with a better understanding of what the State Police does on a daily
basis.

We are requesting your assistance in compiling a new list of potential candidates
for the upcoming academy.

If you have someone in your organization that is interested in being considered for
the academy and could benefit from attending, please provide their:

1. Name

2. Position

3. Contact information (Phone and Email)

Kindly submit your response as soon as possible via email. I look forward to
hearing from you.
