Five percent of net sales to benefit Farm Fresh Rhode Island on July 26

Pawtucket, Rhode Island – Farm Fresh Rhode Island announced that it will receive five percent of net sales from all Whole Foods Market locations in Rhode Island on Thursday, July 26 as part of the company’s quarterly Community Giving Day.

The path food travels — the food system — includes everything from growing and harvesting to processing, packaging, transporting, selling, eating, and disposing of food. Farm Fresh Rhode Island’s mission is to grow that system to be sustainable and healthy for both the farmers and eaters in the region. Farm Fresh Rhode Island offers farmers markets and transparent enterprise systems that help New England farmers, fishers, and small food businesses reach more customers. And they work with the community through outreach, incentives, and educational programs to increase the accessibility and affordability of fresh, local foods.

More than 465 Whole Foods Market locations will participate in the Community Giving Day by donating to organizations, projects and programs that support the mission of ensuring access to healthy food for all.

About Farm Fresh Rhode Island
Farm Fresh Rhode Island envisions a New England abundant with diverse family farms and fertile soils, with locally and honestly produced foods and flavors at the heart of every table. Originally inspired over a decade ago by a Brown University student project, they were founded in 2004, incorporated in 2006, and received 501(c) 3 nonprofit status in 2007. Today their mission is much as it was from the start — to grow a local food system that values the environment, health, and quality of life of the farmers and eaters in the region.
