Will Open National Sales Office in Providence
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Governor Gina M. Raimondo today announced that Vistaprint Corporate plans to bring 125 new jobs to Rhode Island with the opening of its national sales office in the state’s capital city. The new Providence-based office will employ inside sales and design professionals.
«We’ve gone from a deep recession to sustained growth and the lowest unemployment rate since 2001,» said Gov. Raimondo. «The economy is growing, and today’s announcement means more good-paying jobs for Rhode Islanders. I’m thrilled that Vistaprint Corporate has chosen Rhode Island for its national sales office. Rhode Island provides exactly what Vistaprint Corporate was looking for-access to talent, a high quality of life, fiscally responsible incentives to make our state competitive during its search and long-term potential for growth.»
Don LeBlanc, president of Vistaprint Corporate Solutions, said, «At the beginning of the year we decided to dramatically increase our U.S. sales team and began the process of identifying the right location to support our growth. Rhode Island emerged as the clear winner, and we are excited to begin staffing our new location in the coming months. The financial incentives provided by the state not only persuaded us to choose Rhode Island over other states, but will also enable us to hire even more people than we had originally envisioned. We are relying on access to the broad and deep talent pool in the greater Providence area, in particular recent college graduates who want to live and work in Rhode Island. We greatly appreciate the support of the Governor’s office in the process and will continue to work with them on our future expansion plans.»
«We are pleased that Vistaprint Corporate has chosen to locate its national sales office in Rhode Island,» said Rhode Island Commerce Secretary Stefan Pryor. «Vistaprint Corporate had options when it considered where to expand. Rhode Island emerged as the strategic choice for Vistaprint due to our deep pool of talent, positive business climate and potent economic development tools. Vistaprint Corporate’s growth here in the Ocean State will bring new job opportunities for Rhode Islanders and will increase our state’s economic momentum.»
«It’s exciting that yet another leading global company has chosen to move to Providence,» said Mayor Jorge Elorza. «When companies discover all that our city has to offer, they tend to fall in love. I thank Governor Raimondo for her leadership and I welcome Vistaprint Corporate to our thriving, resurgent city.»
Vistaprint Corporate will generate as much as $5.3 million in new state revenue over the next 12 years and will contribute $13.3 million annually to Rhode Island’s economy. The company would be eligible to receive approximately $2.2 million under the Qualified Jobs Incentive Act over 10 years. The tax credits would not be awarded until jobs are created and employees are paying state income tax. Vistaprint Corporate would also be eligible for additional tax credits if it creates at least 275 jobs by 2023. This application needs to be voted on by the Investment Committee and the full board of the Rhode Island Commerce Corporation.
