Venezuela: Leopoldo Lopez Appeals Imprisonment

A Venezuelan Court of appeal admitted the appeal lodged against the imprisonment of opposition leader Leopoldo López, in jail since February 18.

According to his lawyer, Juan Carlos Gutiérrez, within five business days the justice must decide if they will or will not annull the order of imprisonment against their client.

Guiterrez said that Lopez was charged for public incitement, arson, damage to property and association to commit a crime, «crimes which have not occurred», the lawyer said.
