On November 15, 2016, the Pawtucket Police Department in conjunction with the United States
Marshal Service and the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended
Edward Malave of 30 Shawmut Ave. 1st Central Falls R.I. and Zasheira Mercado of 189 Amherst
St. 3rd Providence R.I. in connection to the shooting that occurred on November 13, 2016 at the
intersection of Pine St and Goff Ave. in the City of Pawtucket. On November 13, 2016, the
Police Department investigated a shooting involving a juvenile male. It was reported that a 2
door silver motor vehicle possibly a BMW pulled up to the victim’s motor vehicle while traveling
on Goff Ave near Pine St and fired several shots into the victim’s motor vehicle. During the
course of the investigation, the detectives discovered that Mercado was the operator of the suspect
motor vehicle and Malave was a passenger in her motor vehicle and began to fire repeated shots at
the victim’s motor vehicle. No-one was injured during the incident.

Zasheira Mercado, 25 was charged with 1) Drive-by Shooting; 2) Felony Assault: 3) Using a
Firearm while Committing a Crime of Violence; and 4) Conspiracy.
