Trump Wants More Guns in Schools, Fung Says Civilians Should Use Them
PROVIDENCE, RI — A week after Trump’s education secretary Betsy DeVos proposed using federal funds to buy guns for schools, Mayor Allan Fung expressed his support for arming Rhode Islanders on school grounds.
“Governor Raimondo knows that we need to get guns out of schools to keep our students and teachers safe — Mayor Fung believes arming civilians in our classrooms would improve school safety,” said Emily Samsel, Raimondo campaign spokesperson. “A vote for Fung is a vote to put guns in our kids’ schools.”
Governor Raimondo yesterday took action to ban concealed carry by anyone other than law enforcement in Rhode Island schools. If elected, Mayor Fung would undo these critical safety measures and put Rhode Island students, teachers and families at risk.
