Technology vendor disruption affects DMV service

Vehicle registration services to be restored as soon as possible

CRANSTON, R.I. – The Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles is currently unable to
process new and transfer registrations due to a service disruption experienced by a
technology vendor. Technology vendor R.L. Polk & Co., of Southfield, Mich., (a unit
of IHS Inc.) has informed the division that it is experiencing a system-wide issue
affecting all its clients. Polk has assured the DMV that it will resolve the issue
as soon as possible. The division apologizes for any inconvenience this has caused
its customers. We will update the public when registration service is restored.»
