Suspect arrested of Webster Avenue murder
PROVIDENCE, RI- Derell Johnson, age 21, has been charged by the Providence Police Department with one count of 1st degree murder for the April 1, 2015 murder of Briana Giorgio, age 21 of Cranston, which occurred on Webster Avenue. Johnson is scheduled to appear in Superior Court at 2 p.m. today.
“I commend the Providence Police Department for their swift and successful investigation into this matter. We will not rest in our efforts to bring justice in the wake of this senseless tragedy,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza.
“The Detectives assigned to this case did a great job tracking down the leads necessary to solve this case. With this arrest, we look forward to bringing this young man to justice,” said Colonel Hugh T. Clements, Jr.
