“Today, the Rhode Island General Assembly passed legislation that modernizes our notary laws by becoming the 12th state to adopt the Revised Uniform Law on Notarial Acts (RULONA) – a model designed to standardize notarial requirements and procedures. The bills support the advances in technology commonly used to conduct business today, including electronic notarizations, while also increasing consumer protections by addressing issues of false and deceptive advertising. I thank House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello, Senate President Dominick Ruggerio; our bill sponsors Representative Joseph J. Solomon, Jr. and Majority Whip Maryellen Goodwin; and the entire General Assembly for their support of legislation that will further our efforts to modernize the way we do business in Rhode Island.”
