Rhode Island State Police Investigate a Tractor Trailer Rollover Crash on Route 295 South in the Town of Lincoln

On July 22, 2015 at 1:15 PM, members of the Rhode Island State Police Scituate Barracks, Lincoln Police Department and Lincoln Fire Department responded to a rollover tractor trailer motor vehicle crash on Route 295 North in the Town of Lincoln.

The crash investigation revealed that a 2014 Dodge Stratus traveling on the ramp from Route 146 South to Route 295 North made a left turn as it merged at the top of the ramp and traveled southbound in the northbound lane. The tractor trailer traveling in the right hand lane on Route 295 North attempted to avoid the wrong way vehicle and struck the vehicle in the second lane of travel. After striking the vehicle the tractor trailer rolled over blocking to the two left lanes of travel.

The operator of the tractor trailer sustained no injuries and the driver and passenger of the motor vehicle were transported with injuries to Rhode Island Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation at this time. The highway remains open with several lane restrictions while the tractor trailer is offloaded and the highway is cleared.
