RI – On August 6, 2016, at 1:35 AM, Troopers from the Rhode Island State Lincoln Woods Barracks and Officers from North Providence Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 146 North in the Town of North Providence.

The investigation revealed that a BMW was traveling on Route 146 North in the low speed lane in the Town of North Providence. A Nissan that was also traveling in the low speed lane approached the BMW at a high rate of speed. At a point just north of Mineral Spring Avenue, the Nissan was unable to avoid the BMW, and struck it in the rear end. As a result of the initial collision, the Nissan lost control, veered to the left and struck the center concrete barrier. Subsequently, the Nissan entered into a roll over, ejecting the driver. The Nissan came to final rest on its roof facing south in the left shoulder. The BMW continued to travel north in the low speed lane where it then came to a rolling stop in the right breakdown lane.

The operator of the Nissan that was ejected has been identified as Meghan Soltys, age 24 of Lincoln, Rhode Island. At this time, the accident continues to be under investigation.
