RHODE ISLAND STATE POLICE HIGH INTENSITY DRUG TRAFFICKING AREA (HIDTA) TASK FORCE AND WEST GREENWICH POLICE ARREST TWO WEST GREENWICH RESIDENTS FOR MARIJUANA DISTRIBUTION CHARGES

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety and Chief Richard N. Ramsay, of the West Greenwich Police Department, announce that on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, members of the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force and West Greenwich Police Department arrested Anne Armstrong, age: 56, and Alan Gordon age: 46 of 99 Hudson Pond Road, West Greenwich, Rhode Island on marijuana distribution charges.
On July 19, 2016, members of the HIDTA Task Force and West Greenwich Police Department executed a court authorized search warrant at 99 Hudson Pond Road in the town of West Greenwich. As a result, members of the HIDTA Task Force observed a large marijuana cultivation operation within the residence and seized the following items:
 Approximately 12 pounds of usable marijuana;
 59 marijuana plants;
 Packaging materials and equipment used to manufacture and produce hash oil;
 Approximately 10 pounds of hash oil.
Anne Armstrong and Alan Gordon were identified as the residents of location. Further investigation revealed neither Armstrong or Gordon possess a valid marijuana patient or caregiver card. Anne Armstrong and Alan Gordon were arrested and charged with: Possession with Intent to Deliver/ Manufacture a Schedule I or II
Controlled Substance – (Marijuana).
 Possession in excess of 5 kilograms of a Schedule I Controlled Substance
– (Marijuana).
Anne Armstrong and Alan Gordon were processed at State Police Headquarters
and arraigned before the Honorable Judge Pamela Woodcock-Pfeiffer in Third Division
District Court. They were both held without bail and will next appear in Third Division
District Court on August 2, 2016.
Every person convicted of violating the provisions of Possession with Intent to
Deliver/Manufacture, Schedule I or II Controlled Substance, upon conviction may be
imprisoned for not more than thirty (30) years, or fined not more than one hundred
thousand dollars ($100,000) nor less than three thousand dollars ($3,000), or both.
Every person convicted of violating the provisions of Possession in excess of 5
Kilograms of a Schedule I Controlled Substance – Marijuana, upon conviction may be
imprisoned for a term of up to life and fined not more than one million dollars
($1,000,000).
The HIDTA Task Force is managed by the Rhode Island State Police and
comprised of members from Providence Police, Pawtucket Police, Johnston Police,
Central Falls Police, West Warwick Police, East Greenwich Police, Lincoln Police, United
States Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), United States Drug Enforcement
Administration (DEA), and the United States Bureau of Immigration and Customs
Enforcement – Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
