Rhode Island State Police Arrests Eight Subjects for Driving Under the Influence Over the Weekend

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces that as a result of an ongoing effort to ensure the safety of the motoring public by removing impaired operators from our roadways, a total of eight individuals were arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor or Drugs over this past weekend (Friday, February 28, 2014 through Sunday, March 2, 2014).  Those charged are identified as follows:

 

  • On Friday, March 28, 2014 at 5:58 p.m., Troopers arrested Alisha Choquette, age 27, of 64 Ashaway Road, Westerly, RI for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, First Offense, Blood Alcohol Content Unknown. The arrest was the result of a Motor Vehicle stop on Route 95 in the Town of Hopkinton. The subject was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed and held overnight for morning arraignment pending outcome of blood results.

 

  • On Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2:19 a.m., Troopers arrested Michael F. Schultzberg, age 36, of 50 D Street, Whitinsville, MA for Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs -1st Offense (Phase I: .144; Phase II: .149). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 north in the Town of West Greenwich. The subject was transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, processed, and held overnight pending a morning arraignment.

 

On Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 11:13 p.m., Troopers arrested John E. Sweeney, age 57, of 5039 North Main Street, Fall River, MA for 1. Driving Under the Influence – BAC Unknown, 2. Simple Assault and 3. Disorderly Conduct. Arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 24 in the Town of Tiverton. Subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks and then to Kent County Hospital after complaints of injury. After evaluation at the Hospital, subject was transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed and held until morning arraignment.

  • On Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 10:45 p.m., Troopers arrested Laura Clark, age 42, of 2581 John Gray Road, Cincinnati, OH, for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs first offense – BAC unknown. This arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 95 south at Exit 24. Subject was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and transported to State Police Headquarters pending morning arraignment.

 

  • On Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 1:16 a.m., Troopers arrested Julio Lopez, age 42, of 53 Longo Street, Providence, RI, for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs first offense (Phase 1 = .132; Phase 2 = .128). This arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Route 37 west, in the City of Cranston. Subject was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks, processed, and held pending morning arraignment.

 

  • On Sunday, March 2. 2014 at 3:35 a.m., Troopers arrested Sandro Argueta, age 34, of 487 Manton Avenue, Apt. 3, Providence RI, for 1.) Driving under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs first offense – BAC unknown First Offense; 2.) Chemical Test Refusal – First Offense; 3.) Reckless Driving; and 4.) Driving Without a License. This arrest was a result of Troopers responding to the report of a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle driving the wrong way on Route 95 north, in the City of Providence. Subject is being treated at Rhode Island Hospital for minor injuries, and upon release will be arraigned at the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

 

  • On Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., Troopers arrested Keith Dias, age 42, of 122 Glen Drive, Warwick, RI, for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicating Liquor and/or Drugs 1st Offense (Phase I: .183/Phase II: .185). The arrest was the result of a 9-1-1 call to the Lincoln Woods Barracks regarding an intoxicated operator and subsequent motor vehicle stop on Route 195 west in the City of East Providence. Subject was transported to the Lincoln Woods Barracks where he was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

 

  • On Sunday, March 2, 2014 at 12:45 a.m., Troopers arrested Brooke Overmiller age 22, of 119 Alabama Avenue, Providence, RI for Driving Under the Influence of Liquor and/or Drugs 1st Offense (Ph 1 .153 Ph II .149). The arrest was the result of a motor vehicle stop on Allens Avenue in the City of Providence. The subject was transported to State Police Headquarters where she was processed and held overnight pending morning arraignment.

 

Colonel O’Donnell stated, «The Rhode Island State Police will continue to make impaired operation a priority for the Division.  We encourage the public to continue to help keep our roadways safe by reporting impaired drivers by dialing *77 or 9-1-1.  This should be a reminder that the call you make may save the life of a family member or loved one.»
