Rhode Island State Police Arrest North Providence Man for Possession of Child Pornography

Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of Public Safety, announces that on Thursday, September 11, 2014, members of the Rhode Island Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force arrested Bryce Capracotta, age 19, of 31 Brown Street, North Providence, Rhode Island, for two (2) counts of Possession of Child Pornography, as well as Transfer of Child Pornography.

Mr. Capracotta was arraigned at Third Division District Court,Noel Judicial Complex, 222 Quaker Lane, Warwick, Rhode Island before The Honorable Judge William C. Clifton. Mr. Capracotta was held on $40,000 surety bail with special conditions, including no use of the Internet and no contact with children. Mr. Capracotta is scheduled to appear for a pre-arraignment conference on November 13, 2014 in Third Division District Court.

ICAC Task Force members recently initiated an investigation of an individual trading images and videos of child pornography on the Internet. The Internet connection at 31 Brown Street, North Providence, Rhode Island was identified as allegedly sharing images and videos of child pornography. This morning ICAC Task Force members executed a court-authorized search warrant at the North Providence residence. Task Force members identified child pornography on a laptop computer within the residence and identified Mr. Capracotta as the alleged owner of the laptop computer and the images and videos of child pornography.

A person found guilty of Possession of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000), or imprisoned not more than five (5) years, or both. A person found guilty of Transfer of Child Pornography may be subject to a fine of not more than five thousand dollars ($5,000), or imprisoned not more than fifteen (15) years, or both.
