STATE HOUSE — During a ceremony at the Quonset Air National Guard Base on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, Representative Robert A. Nardolillo III (R-District 28 Coventry) was welcomed into the Legislative Squadron by the Rhode Island Wing by RI Wing Commander Colonel Richard Hill.

“It is truly an honor to be awarded the prestigious honorary grade of Major in the Civil Air Patrol,” said Representative Nardolillo. “I am proud to be a part of the Civil Air Patrol and its quest to build the finest force of citizen volunteers performing Missions for America.”

The Civil Air Patrol is the official auxiliary of the United States Air Force. The Civil Air Patrol has been mandated by Congress with the following three missions; Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs and Emergency Services. The Rhode Island Wing is comprised of many committed and dedicated volunteers.

The organization is community based and provides many opportunities for anyone to serve. Civil Air Patrol members are involved in search and rescue working at emergency shelters, emergency communications, and aerial photography, as well as assisting other organizations with aerospace education, among other duties.
