Rep. Diaz reappointed chairwoman of House Democratic Caucus, appointed to Finance, Rules committees

STATE HOUSE – Speaker of the House Nicholas A. Mattiello (D-Dist. 15, Cranston) has
reappointed Rep. Grace Diaz (D – Dist. 11, Providence) to serve as chairwoman of the
House Democratic Caucus.
«I am honored to once again be serving in a position on the House leadership team,»
said Representative Diaz. «I look forward to addressing the legislative priorities
of the caucus that were enumerated by the speaker on the first day of session,
particularly the phasing out of the car tax.»
Representative Diaz was also appointed for the first time to serve on the House
Finance Committee, which reviews the governor’s proposed budget and handles all
matters relating to revenue, appropriations and taxes. She will also serve on the
Public Safety and Human Services subcommittees of the Finance Committee.
Representative Diaz was also reappointed to the House Rules Committee, which is
responsible for considering all matters relating to the operating rules, functions
and protocols of the House of Representatives.
Representative Diaz was first elected to the House of Representatives in November 2004.
