Reed Statement on Presidential Election Results
PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, after the American people elected Donald Trump to be the
45th President of the United States, U.S. Senator Jack Reed issued the following
statement:
«The American people voted and I congratulate President-elect Donald Trump. Now it
is time to stop campaigning and start becoming presidential. That is the first test
every president has to pass.
«If the approach is governing for the best interest of the American people, you will
find the support you need to get things done. If the approach is divisive and
focused narrowly on pitting people who do well versus people trying to do better,
then that is not going to be successful.
«I will continue working hard to serve the people of Rhode Island and will do my
best to work with President-elect Trump and my newly elected colleagues on both
sides of the aisle to promote peace, prosperity, security, and a brighter future.»
