Reed Statement on the Death of Otto Warmbier
«It is with great sorrow that I extend my condolences to the family and friends of
Otto Warmbier, the University of Virginia student who passed away tragically after
enduring nearly eighteen months of cruel and inhumane treatment in a North Korean
prison. Today, we remember Otto for the intrepid and promising young man he was,
and we offer our deepest compassion and sympathy to those affected by his loss. The
United States must continue to lead by example as a beacon of freedom and compassion
in the face of autocratic regimes around the world.»
