Raimondo Receives Endorsements from UAW, Office and Professional Employees, Rhode Island Latino PAC, Latino Construction Workers, Portuguese Americans Committee

PROVIDENCE, RI — The United Auto Workers (UAW) Region 9A and Office and Professional Employees Union (OPEIU) Local 25 today endorsed Governor Gina Raimondo for re-election.

The Governor also received the endorsements of the Rhode Island Latino Political Action Committee (RILPAC), Latino Construction Workers Association (LCWA) and the Portuguese Americans Citizens Committee (PACC) and the over the past week.

“We proudly endorse Governor Raimondo for re-election,” said Beverley Brakeman, Director for UAW Region 9A. “Governor Raimondo understands the challenges unions are facing and holds a strong stance on protecting members from outside interests that interfere with a union’s ability to operate in the state. The Governor’s steadfast leadership ensures unions are able to prosper and employees have access to fair wages, benefits, and safe working environments.”

“OPEIU proudly endorses Governor Raimondo for re-election,” said Paul MacDonald, OPEIU Local 25. “Governor Raimondo recognized the talent gap businesses faced with recruiting skilled workers. To address these issues the Governor championed the Real Jobs RI program to provide skills training to Rhode Island workers and ensure our employers have a skilled workforce.”

“I am honored to accept the endorsements of these diverse organizations,” said Governor Raimondo. “Our diversity is one of Rhode Island’s biggest strengths — together with groups like the UAW, OPEIU, RILPAC, LCWA and PACC we will keep expanding opportunity so every hardworking family in Rhode Island can get ahead.”
