PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Rhode Island General Treasurer Gina M. Raimondo will visit Ximedica to present the Treasury Young Leader Awards on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. The Young Leader Awards are presented to Rhode Island high school juniors who have demonstrated outstanding academic excellence and service to their community. Michael Pereira, Senior Vice President and Head of Technology and Operations at Ximedica, will speak at the ceremony.

«I am eager to meet these talented students, who not only excel at their studies but also make meaningful contributions in their communities,» Raimondo said. «They truly make me proud and optimistic for the future of our state.»

Students receiving the award include varsity athletes, student government participants, and members of DECA, Future Business Leaders of America, and the National Honor Society. Many are also heavily involved in community service work.

Students from the following towns will be honored: Barrington, Burrillville, Central Falls, Charleston, Coventry, Cranston, East Greenwich, East Providence, Hope Valley, Johnston, Lincoln, Middletown, Narragansett, Newport, North Kingstown, North Providence, North Smithfield, Pawtucket, Portsmouth, Providence, Scituate, South Kingstown, Saunderstown, Tiverton, Warwick, West Warwick, Westerly, and Woonsocket.
