PROVIDENCE, R.I. – According to a Proclamation issued by President Obama, Wednesday,
December 7, will be recognized as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day. Governor
Gina M. Raimondo has ordered that the U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state
facilities
and buildings be flown at half-staff until sunset on December 7, in honor of the
lives lost and forever changed on December 7, 1941.
«We will always remember those who paid the ultimate price at Pearl Harbor and honor
their courage and valor,» said Raimondo. «And 75-years later, we continue to be
inspired by those who survived and continued to serve our nation at its time of
greatest need. We remain grateful for their selfless service and inspired by their
unwavering devotion to our nation.»
Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags as a mark of respect.
