PROVIDENCE, R.I. – In accordance with a Presidential Proclamation, Governor Gina M. Raimondo has ordered that the U.S. and Rhode Island flags at all state facilities and buildings be flown at half-staff until sunset on February 19, 2018 in honor of the victims of yesterday’s school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

«I pray for the victims of yesterday’s shooting in Parkland and their families,» said Raimondo. «I also pray that our nation’s leaders finally, finally take action on guns. The lives lost yesterday could have been saved. We owe all American children the opportunity to learn without the threat of gun violence. I will continue to work with my colleagues in government to keep Rhode Island families safe.»

Raimondo also asks Rhode Islanders to lower their flags as a mark of respect.
