 Providence Police seize heroin and cash in major drug bust

Providence, RI- Over the past nine days, the Providence Police Department
Intelligence Unit and Narcotics Bureau has executed search warrants at three
locations throughout the City. As a result of these investigations police have
seized over four kilograms of heroin, suspected fentanyl, firearms, vehicles and
approximately $65,742 in U.S. Currency. Additionally, seven individuals have been
arrested as a result of these investigations.

On July 6, after a nine month investigation, the Providence Police Department
Intelligence Unit executed a search warrant at 304 Pearl Street Apt. 105. Police
seized approximately three kilograms of heroin, some of which is suspected fentanyl
and has been sent to state toxicology for further analysis. This amount of heroin
holds a street value of $550,000- $600,000. Also seized at this location was
$1,975.00, a Walter P99 firearm with ammunition, and four vehicles. Richard Duran
(age 27) was charged with possession of heroin with intent to deliver, possession of
one to five kilos of heroin, possession of a firearm while in possession with the
intent to deliver heroin, possession of a firearm while in possession of one to five
kilograms of heroin and conspiracy to deliver heroin. Jose Jimenez (age 29) was
charged with possession with the intent to deliver heroin, possession of one to five
kilograms of heroin and conspiracy to deliver heroin.

On July 5, members of the Providence Police Department Narcotics Bureau executed a
search warrant at 302 Pocasset Avenue seizing 13.8 net grams of heroin, 2.1 grams of
cocaine and $61,757.00. Angel Nieve (age 43) was charged with one count of delivery
of heroin, conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession with
intent to deliver heroin; Eric Tretton (age 29) was charged with possession of
heroin; Fernando Vasquez (age 43) was charged with one count of delivery of heroin
and possession of heroin; Rosa Felix (age 36) was charged with conspiracy and
possession with intent to deliver heroin.

On June 28, after a three month investigation, Providence Police Department
Narcotics Bureau executed a search warrant at 34 Pennsylvania Avenue seizing over a
kilogram of heroin and $2,010.00. Pedro Garcia (age 39) was charged with driving
without a license, possession with the intent to deliver heroin and possession with
intent to deliver over 1 kilo of heroin.

«The members of the Providence Police Department are committed to making sure our
neighborhoods are safe and strong. The recent actions of the Intelligence Unit and
Narcotics Bureau have taken nearly $1 million worth of heroin off the street and out
of the hands of those who seek to profit from the suffering of others. I commend our
officers for this fine work and extend the thanks of a grateful city,» said Mayor
Jorge Elorza.

for their tireless efforts to rid the City of high level heroin distribution,» said
