Providence Gang Member Sentenced to 10 Years to Serve on Weapons Charge
Attorney General Peter F. Kilmartin announced that Tyrone Hall (age 42), of Providence, pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of a firearm having been previously convicted of a crime of violence and possession of a firearm without a license. Under the terms of the plea, Superior Court Justice Luis M. Matos sentenced Hall to 20 years with 10 years to serve and 10 years suspended with probation.
Had the case proceeded to trial, the State was prepared to prove that on April 12, 2016, at approximately 3:00 p.m., while responding to complaints in the area of Admiral Street, Providence Police Detectives spotted Hall, who was wanted on a Superior Court warrant for violation of his probation and wanted by Providence Police for domestic felony assault.
Hall was taken into custody without incident. During the pat down, police found a .32 Cal Keltec firearm and a magazine containing seven live rounds of ammunition inside Hall’s sweatshirt pocket.
When speaking with the police, Hall identified himself as a member of the criminal street gang «Gangster Killer Bloods.»
«This defendant is a violent gang member who was in possession of a loaded gun. It was only a matter of time before he committed another crime where he could have potentially seriously injured or killed someone. Thanks to the great work by the detectives and prosecutors, we have taken another illegal gun off the streets and sent the defendant back to prison,» said Attorney General Kilmartin.
Providence Police Detectives Jonathan Desmarais, Eric Greene, and Louis Gianfrancesco led the investigation. Special Assistant Attorneys General Joseph McBurney and Katelyn Revens prosecuted the case on behalf of the Office of Attorney General.
