PROVIDENCE – This morning, Myrth York endorsed Gina Raimondo for governor as a
proven leader who will tackle our challenges with vision and urgency and secure a
better future for Rhode Island. Following her endorsement, Myrth co-hosted a women’s
economic security roundtable with Gina and Lt. Governor Elizabeth Roberts. The
conversation covered how to ensure women are trained in skills for jobs in advanced
manufacturing, supporting women entrepreneurs, raising the minimum wage, equal pay
for equal work and passing common-sense gun reforms.
“I am supporting Gina because she is smart, she is determined and she is incredibly
hard working,” said Myrth. “She understands the challenges and difficulties that
Rhode Islanders face every day. And she knows how to bring change – positive,
progressive change.”
“It’s an honor to have Myrth’s support; she has been an outstanding progressive
champion for our state,” said Gina. “And it was great to have the opportunity today
to discuss the critical role women will play in our economic recovery. When women
succeed, it means more money in the family budget to pay the rent or mortgage, save
for college and tuck some away for emergencies. It means that families have the
money to spend at our great local businesses; it allows us to grow the middle class
and spurs the economic development we need here in Rhode Island.
Gina has already been endorsed by the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 51, the
Ironworkers Local 37, EMILY's List, Lt. Gov Elizabeth Roberts, Senator Donna
