PROVIDENCE, RI: Over the past few months, Providence Police have been investigating
a civilian employee of the City of Providence who most recently worked in the
Providence Police Department Records Bureau. The employee was suspected of
wrongfully converting police department information for personal purposes.

Rosemary Garcia, age 36 of Cranston, was arrested yesterday, June 28, at
approximately 4:00 p.m. by the PPD Intelligence and Organized Crime and Detective
Bureaus. She was transported to central station where she was charged with Access to
a Computer for Fraudulent Purposes and Wrongful Conversion by an Officer or
Municipal Employee. Garcia was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in 6th
District Court on August 28, 2017. She is suspended without pay.

This investigation is ongoing.
