Mayor Elorza Announces Emily Crowell to Serve as Communications Director

PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Jorge O. Elorza announced today Emily Crowell will
serve as Communications Director for the City of Providence.

«Emily is dynamic and is a natural fit for the position,» said Mayor Jorge Elorza.
«Both Victor and Emily have served our team since I took office and I look forward
to working with them in their new roles to increase our administration’s reach.»

Former staffer for Senator Jack Reed, Crowell joined the City first serving as
Deputy Director of Communications, and then Press Secretary. Most recently she
served as Acting Director of Communications as of September. She graduated from the
University of Rhode Island and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the
Providence Downtown Improvement District.

In addition to Crowell’s appointment, Victor Morente was named Press Secretary in
the same department. Morente has been with the administration since Elorza took
office and was most recently serving as Acting Press Secretary. He studied Political
Science and Public Administration at Rhode Island College. Both Crowell and Morente
reside in Providence, Rhode Island.
