The president of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, will not attend the inauguration of Michelle Bachelet as president of Chile, which will take place on Tuesday at the National Congress, according to confirmed sources of the Chilean Foreign Ministry.

Maduro was scheduled to arrive in the early hours of Tuesday to the capital Santiago. However, they could never determine the agenda for the Venezuelan president in Chilean territory.

Last Sunday the death of Chilean Rubilar Giselle in the city of Mérida was reported, and attributed to a gunshot. Authorities in Chile called for research on the subject to the government of Venezuela.

The cancellation of the points where the press would give Chavez statements served to confirm the non-attendance of Maduro for Bachelet’s inauguration.

The foreign minister of Venezuela, Elias Jaua, will represent the South American country in the inauguration ceremony.
