Lt. Governor McKee Joins Delegation on Economic Mission to Taiwan

PROVIDENCE, RI – Lt. Governor Dan McKee will join a delegation of elected leaders and local business owners from the Blackstone Valley on an economic mission to Taiwan. 

The delegation includes Pawtucket Mayor Donald Grebien, Central Falls Mayor James Diossa, Representative Carlos Tobon (D-Pawtucket), Senator Sandra Cano (D-Pawtucket), Robert Billington, President of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council and local business leaders.  
The delegation departs for Asia on Friday, April 12 and returns Tuesday, April 23.

The delegation will visit Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Health and Welfare and Education Department. The group will attend a ceremony to accept the donation of six Dragon Boats from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office for Pawtucket’s Taiwan Day Festival, an event which brings thousands of people to the city each year.

During the trip, Lt. Governor McKee will meet with health officials to learn more about Taiwan’s innovate efforts to address Alzheimer’s. He will share information with officials about Rhode Island’s new State Plan on Alzheimer’s Disease, an initiative spearheaded by the Lt. Governor’s Office. The delegation will also spend several days in China meeting with business owners who are interested in exploring investment opportunities in Rhode Island.

Through this mission, the delegation seeks to build relationships that will help Blackstone Valley and all of Rhode Island foster future economic exchanges.
