Resolution calls on Justice Department to release the Special Counsel’s report when investigation is completed

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jim Langevin (D-RI) issued the following statement after voting in favor of a resolution calling for the Department of Justice to make the findings of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report available to Congress and to the public when the investigation is completed:

“The American people deserve to know the full facts surrounding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and the extent to which the President and his associates may have been complicit in it. To date, Special Counsel Robert Mueller has indicted 34 individuals in relation to Russian interference in the 2016 election. The Mueller investigation is no witch hunt. The Russian campaign of information operations and cyber intrusions targeted the heart of our democracy, and publicly releasing the Mueller report is critical to preserving public confidence in our elections.

“The Department of Justice must commit to releasing any report provided by the Special Counsel and not attempt to bury it for the sake of political expediency.”
