Colonel Steven G. O’Donnell, Superintendent of the Rhode Island State Police and Commissioner of the Rhode Island Department of Public Safety, along with Chief Sheriff David M. DeCesare, are pleased to announce the graduation ceremony of eighteen (18) new deputy sheriffs from the Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs Training Academy.

The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Bobby Hackett Theater, located on the Knight Campus of the Community College of Rhode Island, Warwick, Rhode Island.

The Rhode Island Division of Sheriffs is responsible for the custody, safety and well-being of prisoners and defendants while being transported to and from the courts and other facilities, and to affect a comprehensive program of judicial security in the courts and other buildings.

These new deputy sheriffs will bring the Division of Sheriffs to its maximum authorized strength of 180 members.
