Governor Raimondo to Deliver State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 17
PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Gina M. Raimondo will deliver her annual State of the State address before a joint session of the Rhode Island General Assembly on Tuesday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. The State of the State address will provide the Governor an opportunity to outline her ongoing efforts to create and expand economic opportunities for every Rhode Islander and ensure that all Rhode Islanders have the skills they need to compete. The Governor’s office submitted a formal letter to House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello and Senate President Teresa Paiva-Weed earlier today requesting the opportunity to address the chambers.
In the upcoming weeks, Governor Raimondo (@GinaRaimondo) and members of her staff will be sharing behind the scenes photos of the process that goes into drafting and planning the State of the State address. Follow along on Twitter, using the hashtag #RISOTS.
Two days after the address, Raimondo will submit her proposed FY18 budget. The Governor’s Budget Office will hold an embargoed, on-the-record media briefing on Thursday, January 19 prior to the formal submission of the budget. Details about that media briefing will be advised that week.
