Warwick, RI – Giovanni Feroce, Republican candidate for Governor says “Gina Raimondo’s extreme positions do nothing to protect children and actually put them further in danger,” referring to her executive order to ban guns from all public school buildings and grounds other than visibly identified active law enforcement officers.”

“Governor Raimondo continues to set aside common sense in favor of moving our state to the extreme left. She is intent on making Rhode Island an outlier for her extreme agenda. Of course we would want licensed off duty officers and other certified and qualified individuals to be armed as an added line of defense.” Said Feroce, a retired army combat veteran.

“I support an Oklahoma program where the names of both civilians and teachers authorized to carry a firearm on school grounds are kept confidential at school and among the general public, but known to the school board and local law enforcement.”

*At least eight states already have programs allowing school faculty and other staff to carry concealed weapons on K-12 campuses, according to the Education Commission of the States. More states have introduced legislation to allow it, and a private, firearms training group called Faster Saves Lives says it has worked with 1,300 school staffers in 12 different states.
