Eagles of Death Metal Home Safe From Paris

Members of the band Eagles of Death Metal are safely home in the United States after last Friday’s Paris attacks and, as they said in a statement, are «still trying to come to terms with what happened.»

The California band had just taken the stage at the Bataclan concert hall when terrorists attacked, spraying the audience with gunfire and hurling explosives. At least 89 people were killed in what was the deadliest incident of Friday’s coordinated attacks in the French capital. The band’s merchandise manager, Nick Alexander, was among those killed but the musicians made it out of the concert hall safely.

«Our thoughts and hearts are first and foremost with our brother Nick Alexander, our record company comrades Thomas Ayad, Marie Mosser, and Manu Perez, and all the friends and fans whose lives were taken in Paris, as well as their friends, families, and loved ones,» the band said in aFacebook posting Wednesday.

«We would like to thank the French police, the FBI, the U.S. and French State Departments, and especially all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil.»

The statement said all Eagles of Death Metal shows are on hold until further notice.

The band last month released a new album and had been on a European tour.
