PROVIDENCE,RI- Dari Garcia, was arrested on January 24, 2012, when he was 21 years

of age, by the Providence Police Department Narcotics and Organized Crime Bureau for

various narcotics violations.  The case was resolved on June 5, 2012 in Superior

Court where Garcia received ten years, two years to serve, and eight years

suspended.

On February 17, 2014 Providence Police responded to a call for a domestic

disturbance in front of 192 Clarence Street.  After a confrontation with police,

Garcia was shot by a Providence Police Officer that was responding to the call.

Garcia was wounded and taken to Rhode Island Hospital by Providence Fire Department

Rescue.

On February 19, 2014 Garcia was presented as a Superior Court violator (at RI

hospital) and held without bail pending a future violation hearing. Garcia is

presently in the custody of Rhode Island Sheriffs.

Garcia will be charged with Simple Assault- Domestic, Malicious Mischief-Domestic,

Disorderly Conduct-Domestic and Possession of Heroin.  This investigation continues

and after consultation with the RI Attorney General’s office Garcia may face further

charges.
