Cumberland Native Peter Farrelly Wins Two Academy Awards for Green Book

Cumberland, RI – Critically acclaimed author and director, and Cumberland native Peter Farrelly won two Academy Awards for his work in the comedy-drama film Green Book. Farrelly’s Green Book won both Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay. In addition to his recent honor, Farrelly won a Golden Globe in the same category at the Golden Globe Awards on January 6.

“I am so proud of Mr. Farrelly for the awards he has accumulated throughout his career as a tremendously talented screenwriter, producer and director. He is proof that with determination and commitment, anything is possible. All of us in Cumberland are so proud of you, Peter, and I invite you to return back home, so the residents and I can celebrate your successes and give you the keys to the Town,” stated Mayor Jeff Mutter.
