Cranston- The Christmas Tree lighting Ceremony started at 6pm with Domenic Kaffenberger performing a trumpet solo.
The Mayor opens the ceremony by thanking and recognizing attending dignitaries, thanked all the city employees and volunteers who made the event possible and welcomed all of the residents that came to the Christmas tree lighting.
The festivities continued with holiday music performances by members of the Cranston High School East under the direction of Emily Johnson, Supervisor of Music Cranston Public Schools and later the BASICS Choirs under the direction of Peter Kelleher.
Before the lighting of the tree a young girl, Jordan Armarno sang a cappella “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”. The crowd loved it.
The Mayor does the countdown of the lighting of the tree and gave his wife, Barbara Ann the honors to switch on the lights.
Santa Claus with his elves arrived by fire truck which immediately was surrounded by thrilled children, young and old.
The annual city tradition brought together the entire Cranston community for an evening of merriment and cheer, complete with cookies and hot chocolate doled out by senior elves.
