Central Falls Holiday Express weekend of giving back to the community
Central Falls, LPR NEWS – This weekend, the spirit of the holiday season will be on full display in
Central Falls, as community groups have joined together to sponsor a series of
events that give back to the community. Known as Central Falls Holiday Express, the
group is made up of members of the Central Falls Police and Fire Depts., Central
Falls City Hall, Central Falls School District, Central Falls Prevention Coalition,
Children’s Workshop, Navigant Credit Union, Central Falls Knight of Columbus,
Central Falls Lions Club, and city residents Mr. & Mrs. Barzykowski. This weekend’s
events include, a Friday night turkey dinner and winter clothing give-away, a
Saturday morning holiday breakfast with a special visit from Santa, and wrapping up
on Sunday with home deliveries from Santa who will drop off gifts to around 200
families in need.
Since 2008, Central Falls Holiday Express has organized volunteers and raised funds
to sponsor holiday meals and clothing and gift giveaways to city students and their
families during the weeks leading up to Christmas. Friday’s holiday dinner begins at
5 pm at Central Falls High School and is open to city students 6th grade and up
along with their families and will include a winter clothing giveaway. Saturday’s
breakfast begins at 9 am at Veterans Memorial Elementary School and is open to city
students 5th grade and below along with their families and will include a visit from
Santa and a toy giveaway.
