Celmira Luzardo From «Yo soy Betty, la Fea» Passes Away

Celmira Luzardo, the Colombian actress, known for her role as Catalina Angel in the famous series «Yo soy Betty, la Fea» died Wednesday night at age 61 in Bogotá.

She developed her career in theater, film and television and in the latter half was part of the cast of the telenovela «Yo soy Betty, la Fea» , died in Bogotá, today reported her relatives.

Luzardo, the youngest of a family of actors, died Wednesday due to respiratory problems, reported friends and family through social networks.

«We woke up to the sad news of the death of the great actress Celmira Luzardo, our condolences,» said the Colombian Artists via Twitter page.

Luzardo starred in the 80s and 90s in several Colombian television productions and is especially remembered for her role as Catalina Angel, a fashion designer in «Yo soy Betty , la Fea» .

The artist also played roles in other dramas and Colombian series like «Los cuervos», «Francisco el matemático», «La mujer del presidente», «La potra zaina» or «La tregua», the latter based on the novel of the same name Uruguayan writer Mario Benedetti.

Celmira Luzardo had, besides acting, editing and production studied at the National Film Institute in London, and film at the  Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Italy.
