CCRI recruiting for free Manufacturing program
Warwick, R.I. – The Community College of Rhode Island is recruiting prospective candidates for a free Fast Track to CNC Manufacturing program that will begin Sept. 25.
In this two-phase advanced manufacturing boot camp, students can prepare for a high-quality career in one of Rhode Island’s fastest growing industries and earn free college credits toward an associate degree while learning the skills employers are seeking.
Phase 1 is a 10-week program that introduces the fundamentals of manufacturing, safety, precision measurement and blueprint reading. Students will receive job interview training, résumé building and help finding their first position as a CNC operator. They also will earn 10 college credits and their OSHA-10 certification.
In Phase 2, students can earn six college credits while learning deeper skills and cutting-edge advanced manufacturing processes to become a CNC machinist.
Those who complete both phases will be only one class away from completing CCRI’s certificate in advanced manufacturing.
The program is funded through a Real Jobs Rhode Island grant and is free to applicants who are 18 years or older, Rhode Island residents and who are U.S. citizens or work authorized.
